Certificate Program Requirements

Early Childhood Education Certificate
24 units all 8 modules and 495 clock hours.

Our Early Childhood Education Certificate is aimed to meet the needs of students who wish to work with young children under California state licensing title 22. It is designed to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and skills that will support in providing quality care to young children across assorted settings in the early childhood field.

Enroll anytime for next class(es) during the year to meet Licensing requirements.

Gain 6 units / 225 clock hours of course work in field training (Intro. to ECE Environment and Childcare Provider Practicum) in your current work environment.

  • Certificates in Early Childhood Education are awarded after completion of requirements.
  • The classes take 5 weeks to complete.
  • Transfer units can be applied toward our certificate.
  • Courses meet the State of California, Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division requirements under Title 22 regulations for preschool / day care center teachers and directors.

Acceptance of the certificate you earn in Early Childhood Education is also at the complete discretion of the institution to which you may seek to transfer. If the credits that you earn at this institution are not accepted at the institution to which you seek to transfer, you may be required to repeat some or all of your coursework at that institution. For this reason you should make certain that your attendance at this institution will meet your educational goals. This may include contacting an institution to which you may seek to transfer after attending California College of Early Childhood Education to determine if your credits will transfer.

  • ECE 101 – Introduction to ECE Curriculum (State Requirement for Teachers)

    3 Units = 45 Clock Hours ~ Cost – $499.95
    An introduction to methods and developmentally appropriate practices to help facilitate learning.

  • ECE 102 – Child, Family & Community (State Requirement for Teachers)

    3 Units = 45 Clock Hours ~ Cost – $499.95
    The roles and interactions of family members are examined. Cultural diversity is explored.

  • ECE 103 – Child Development (State Requirement for Teachers)

    3 Units = 45 Clock Hours ~ Cost – $499.95
    The basic concepts in child development and temperament differences are studied

  • ECE 104 – Curriculum Planning (State Requirement for Teachers)

    3 Units = 45 Clock Hours ~ Cost – $499.95
    An understanding of creativity and learning experiences in child development curriculum. Includes creating a weekly curriculum schedule.

  • ECE 105 – Infant / Toddler Development (State Requirement for Infant / Toddler Teachers)

    3 Units = 45 Clock Hours ~ Cost – $499.95
    Physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of infants and toddlers are studied.

  • ECE 106 – Child Care Center Supervision & Administration (State Requirement for Directors)

    3 Units = 45 Clock Hours ~ Cost – $499.95
    An introduction to leadership / management of the child care center. Included are dealing with community care licensing, selecting staff and controlling the budget.

    ECE 106 prerequisite (ECE 101,102,103,104).

  • ECE 107 – Intro. To ECE Environment

    3 units =135 Clock Hour ~ Cost – $450
    This class applies your working hours in a licensed childcare center to be applied to the required class hours. May be scheduled anytime during a calendar year. [Field Training Units]

  • ECE 108 – Child Care Provider Practicum

    3 Units = 90 Clock Hours ~ Cost – $450
    Planning, teaching and leading activities in a licensed child care setting. This class is completed at your licensed childcare center where employed. May be completed anytime during a calendar year. [Field Training Units]
